Makobeats is a DJ operating in Fairbanks, Alaska, USA, and has been doing so since September 2011. He hosted The Techno Shark, an award-winning, weekly radio show on KSUA 91.5FM. While he wasn’t always known as Makobeats, nor has his show always been called The Techno Shark, he’s been dedicated to helping the electronic music scene in town grow from the beginning. He often plays genres and tracks that are not within the common repertoire of club and festival DJs and commercial radio stations, with the intent of inspiring his listeners to explore the “less popular” styles of electronic music.
He commonly plays trance, and his most well-known event is Trancemonster, an annual trance-centric event which occurs at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). Prior to his becoming the headlining DJ for Trancemonster, the event occurred in the Davis Concert Hall at UAF, and was met with mixed reviews. When Makobeats joined the crew in 2014, Trancemonster had changed venues to the Hess Recreational Center at UAF and was more focused on dancing. These iterations were met with largely positive reviews and had several hundred attendees.
Makobeats has since played numerous events around town, and he plays a variety of genres, from trance (psy-trance, J-trance, melodic trance, uplifting trance, etc.) to house to complextro to hardstyle to hardcore. If you would like some specifics regarding what he plays, feel free to contact him using the “Contact” link at the top of the page. Makobeats will respond as fast as possible to your inquiry.
